Video remote interpreting puts a certified interpreter on your Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Webex or Google Meet call. The Deaf participant sees the interpreter on screen, and the interpreter voices for them to everyone else.
Because there is no drive time, VRI works well for short appointments, remote meetings, and organizations outside San Diego. We staff video assignments for clients across California.

How booking works
Send the request
Tell us the date, time, platform and expected length. Send the meeting link when you have it, along with any agenda or slides.
We confirm an interpreter
We confirm a certified interpreter, or a team for anything over an hour, and send their display names so you can admit them.
The interpreter joins early
Interpreters log in before the start time to check audio and video, and are pinned or spotlighted so the Deaf participant can see them.
Common questions
When should we book in person instead?
Video depends on a stable connection and a clear view of the screen. Book in person for emergencies, people who are very ill, children, Deaf-Blind consumers, large live events, and any setting where the Deaf participant can't easily see a screen.
Is this on-demand video interpreting?
No. Our VRI is scheduled ahead, just like an in-person booking, so you get a certified interpreter who is prepared for your meeting. Book as early as you can; a few days' notice is ideal.
What do we need to provide?
The meeting link, the agenda or slides if there are any, and the names of anyone presenting. For hybrid meetings, a microphone that clearly picks up everyone in the room.
Do you cover meetings outside San Diego?
Yes. Video assignments aren't tied to a location, and we cover clients across California.
Why would you send two interpreters?
Interpreting is mentally demanding, and accuracy drops with fatigue. Assignments longer than an hour are normally staffed with a team of two who trade off, which is the professional standard. We'll tell you up front when an assignment needs a team.
What is your cancellation policy?
Cancel more than 24 hours before the start time and there is no charge. Cancellations inside 24 hours are billed for the full scheduled time, because the interpreter has already turned down other work for it.
